Case 131: When the Dilatation is Mechanical

This is a 44-years old who presented with a dilated cardiomyopathy. The EF was 23% and all other parameters were normal.

The multiparametric imaging did not yield any further information.

However, she was found to have severe aortic regurgitation (AR), which was the cause of her dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM).

The video describes the case in detail and discusses the issue of chronic aortic regurgitation and its effect on the LV, starting with high volume overload, then hypertrophy, pressure overload and eventually failure. It also discusses the parameters we need to mention in our reports in such situations.
